It is from the early 1940s. It is marked on bottom edge with quot;Copyright 1941, KS937 quot; See the additional photos . All of its paint is original and it is in very good condition - having no chips or cracks or repairs. But remember this is chalkware and it does show some crazing and wear due to age and use. It still has its original wire hanger on the back for hanging on the wall. This particular string holder has sold at auctions for over 500.00. This string holder was purchased in Bloomington, Illinois in 1971 along with several other Black Americana items. It was one of two quot;Coon Chicken Inn quot; string holders in this small collection.
